Car Gurus

Langley Steinert, who helped start TripAdvisor, saw that technology and data analytics could be used to improve the process of buying a car. In 2006, he began CarGurus in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Its bargain-rating system looks at more than the car’s price to figure out how much it’s worth.

It gives cars grades ranging from “excellent deal” to “overpriced.” Because its system is so strict, only 30% of the vehicles it sells are excellent deals. Accidents, how long the vehicle has been on the lot, who owns it, and price changes are all free and in one spot. It will let you know if the price of a car you put on your “wish list” goes down. Your search results will also be used to find you the best deals and suggest vehicles that fit your needs.
